The establishment has been placed under provisional administration by the Regional Health Agency and no longer welcomes new residents.

What happened in this small nursing home in Montauban de Luchon, in Occitania? The "Era Caso" institution, which caters for 65 elderly residents, was placed under provisional administration for a period of six months. The admission of new residents has also been suspended. These decisions, extremely rare and which are the responsibility of the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Occitanie and the department of Haute-Garonne, were taken after a control visit conducted on August 1st.

Contacted by Le Figaro, the ARS did not wish to say more because of "referral procedures in progress". In a press release, however, the Agency said it had received "several reports from families and professionals", and noted during its visit "serious dysfunctions in the areas of governance, organization, continuity, quality and safety of care", but also in "the accompaniment and respect for the rights of the people welcomed".

Seven residents transferred

The families of the residents were informed of the situation, and seven of them were transferred to other nursing homes. "The resources of the territory have been mobilized to strengthen medical and paramedical care within the establishment," says the ARS. An administrator was appointed and installed on August 3, "with the mission of restoring continuity of care, guaranteeing the safety and well-treatment of residents".

With our colleagues from La Dépêche, several employees of the Ehpad testified to a "general fed up" within the establishment, with sick leave in shambles. "Last weekend, we only had three caregivers to take care of 65 residents (...) With of course the fear of being abusive towards our residents, "said one of them. According to another, "there is no management, we lack suitable and undamaged equipment, the drug circuit is also in question (...) The last two weeks, we haven't had time to shower (residents)," she admits.

Without saying more, the president of the Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne announced to seize the Public Prosecutor about this situation, which would have generated "problems likely to threaten or compromise the health, safety and physical and moral well-being of residents".
